可见,REAP不仅仅是一项科学研究!我们还将开展颁发奖学金、助学贷款、提供信息和帮助设计并评估学前教育到高中教育阶段的一些新的政策措施等活动。比如说我们的宿舍管理项目、早期幼儿教育、校园营养计划等等。
The overall goal of this proposed project (to be implemented by REAP—Stanford, REAP-China; Chao Foundation and our partners in Gansu’s health, nutrition and education communities) is to design a program—packaged together as a Best Buy Health and Nutrition Tool Kit for Improving Education—to meet these two challenges. In particular, we want to find affordable and sustainable solutions for improving student education through better health and nutrition, by conducting a large-scale, real-world, experiment-based project. The experiment-based part of the project will allow us to evaluate if the Best Buy Tool Kit works or not (as well as to identify which tools work the best). Since the Took Kit contains proven and inexpensive health and nutrition interventions that have been shown in other settings to increase educational performance when provided as individual treatments, we want to discover if they work together as a package to have even greater effects (or if there is some reason that they do not work in this more comprehensive, intervention setting).
To meet our overall goal, we will pursue three specific objectives:
Rigorously measure the initial health and nutrition levels of students in our treatment schools (and control schools) as well as the starting levels of educational performance;
Use the tools in our Best Buy Tool Kit—multivitamins; eyeglasses; deworming medications; nutrition training for parents; boarding school management training for educators—to treat the health and nutrition problems in the treatment schools.
Assess what works well and what does not in creating a policy-relevant health and nutrition program by measuring final levels of health, nutrition and education and comparing improvements in treatment schools and control schools. (
