5. FRIENDS: Invite your friends to join EastVillagers and form a network of friends who are interested in community service. Each friend you invite will earn you points which can be donated towards your favorite charities to considered for a Thanksgiving grant. (44% completion)

The Transparent Fish Philanthropy Laboratory is a joint venture between the School of Social Development & Public Policy at Beijing Normal University and the Chao Foundation. The vision of Transparent Fish is to be a laboratory for developing and testing innovative solutions to philanthropy through technology, entrepreneurship, and partnerships as well as academic research in social development. The Ping and Amy Chao Family Foundation was founded in California’s Silicon Valley in 2005 by Ping Chao and his wife Amy Chao. It was established exclusively for charitable purposes. The Ping & Amy Chao Family Foundation focuses on technology, entrepreneurship, and partnerships that aim to strategically improve children’s heath and promote non-profit endeavors in East Asia. Since 2005, the foundation has been building online communities to encourage youth and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to engage in global issues that impact the U.S. and China. The foundation’s recent initiatives include funding hepatitis immunizations for over 500,000 school children in Qinghai Province and providing heart surgeries for children in Gansu province (so far, 417 heart surgeries have been funded). The Chao Foundation is currently focused on launching the Transparent Fish Philanthropy Laboratory in Beijing.
